Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Antonello Zaccaria (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal data when you visit this website, play the embedded Lusus game, or purchase the Lusus plugin. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

1. The short version

• We only collect the name and email you choose to enter to save a score on the leaderboard — and only after you tick the consent box.
• We use those emails only for the leaderboard: no newsletters, no marketing.
• Like most websites, our pages load fonts from Google and a few scripts from Cloudflare and Freemius, which receive your IP address (section 2c).
• No analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies.
• Purchases are processed by Freemius; we never see or store your full payment-card details.
• You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time.

2. Data we collect

a) Leaderboard & game

When you finish a game and choose to save your score, we collect the name (up to 8 characters) and email address you type, your score, the number of games you have played, the date and time of your last save and the date and time of your consent. Your name and score appear on the public leaderboard after moderation; your email is never shown publicly. Providing these data is entirely voluntary — you can play without saving a score.

To stop automated spam, your IP address is used in hashed form for a few seconds to limit repeated saves; it is not stored with your score.

b) Purchases & licensing

If you buy a Lusus license, checkout, billing and license management are handled by Freemius (our reseller and merchant of record). Freemius collects the data needed to process your order (such as name, email and billing details). We receive order and license information (such as your email and license status) but not your full card number.

c) Technical data & third-party resources

Our hosting provider (Hostinger) automatically logs technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, for security and to keep the site running.

When you open a page, your browser also connects directly to these services, which receive your IP address and browser information as with any web request:

• Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com — Google) — the fonts of the site and of the game;
• cdnjs (cdnjs.cloudflare.com — Cloudflare) — the libraries that animate some pages;
• Freemius (checkout.freemius.com) — on pages with purchase buttons, to prepare the secure checkout;
• WordPress.org (s.w.org) — emoji images, only if your browser cannot display emoji.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising services.

d) Cookies & local storage

This site sets no cookies while you browse it. When you open the Freemius checkout, it runs on Freemius’s servers and may use the cookies it needs to process the payment.

The game keeps a few items in your browser’s local storage, on your device only: the last name you typed, your personal top five (names and scores) and your sound on/off choice; for the current visit only, the graphics quality level. You can delete them at any time from your browser settings.

3. How we use your data

• Leaderboard: to show your name and score on the public ranking after moderation, to recognise returning players (one email, one entry) and to prevent spam and cheating.
• Moderation: when a score is saved, the site administrator receives an email with your name, email and score, to review the entry.
• Coupon: if your score unlocks a discount code, the game asks our server for it; no other data is collected.
• No marketing: we do not use leaderboard emails for newsletters or promotions, and we do not pass them to email-marketing or automation services.
• Orders: to deliver your license, updates and support.
• Security & legal: to protect the site and meet our obligations.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for your name and email on the leaderboard. You tick the consent box before saving, the date and time are recorded, and you can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your entry.
• Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to process and fulfil your purchase.
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — to keep invoices and accounting records.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to keep the site secure, prevent spam and deliver the fonts and scripts the pages need.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers needed to run this site:

• Freemius — payments and license management.
• Hostinger — hosting.
• Google — Google Fonts (your IP address) and the administrator’s mailbox, which receives the moderation emails.
• Cloudflare — cdnjs (your IP address).

Each provider acts under its own privacy terms.

6. Data retention

Leaderboard entries are kept until you ask us to remove them or we delete them during moderation or cleanup. Order and license records are kept as long as needed to provide support and meet legal and accounting obligations. The items in your browser’s local storage stay on your device until you delete them.

7. International transfers

Some providers (such as Freemius, Google and Cloudflare) may process data outside the European Union, including in the United States. These transfers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@lususwp.com with the email address you used on the leaderboard. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it) — or with the authority of the country where you live.

9. Children

This site and game are not directed to children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
